Introduction

A life of experiences has lead Christina Johnson to become, today, an artist with a passion for trying to capture the beauty of Nature, People, Fantasy and Abstract Color. This has lead her to delve into the mediums of Two-Dimentional Art, Website Design, and Botanical Design.
Christina Johnson's life experiences have also created in her a passionate environmentalist and she seeks to improve the world around her by living by example - preferring to inspire others rather than pressure them (polititians excluded).

Childhood - Fantasy

Christina first became interested in the visual arts when she was very young. As a small child, she loved creating fantasy creatures in her head and dreamed of being able to show them to others some day. She was often asked by her friends to draw them pictures of animals and fantasy creatures.

Childhood - Nature

Christina has always had a deep love of nature from her childhood of spending whole summers barefoot more often than not - running around the creeks and woods near her home. She also often went camping with her family at near and distant beautiful places.

Preteens - Environmentalism

A teacher in her middle school taught her of the plight that our environment was facing. She resolved to protect the health of this world and the beautiful spaces around her. It pained her to see the woods around her home rapidly torn down for development.

Highschool to College - Portraits & Environmentalism

While she attended Sanford School in Hockessin, DE, she fell in love with drawing portraits! She loved taking the time to truly see a person and felt she could connect with others and know them more deeply by drawing them - she liked the most drawing people actively doing something they enjoy or love. Portraits also were a powerful way to finely hone her technical skills.
Environmentally, she altered her lifestyle by recycling, conserving water, and continuely researching to learn more ways to live eco-friendly. She further supported the environment and human rights by writing to her legislators. She also worked at a local health food store and at the local Ashland Nature Center as a teacher/naturalist.

Adulthood - Marrying Design & Color

She felt it was time to really concentrate on color so she was happy to take a job as a web designer at the eco friendly company Yikes - a place where she has seen her ability to choose color and master abstraction thrive. She has also found it very helpful for enhancing her compositional abilities and her skills at creating beauty for others as well as for herself. The fact that she greatly enjoys using computers hasn't hurt either.

Today - Botanical Design, Portraits, Art, Environmentalism

Christina is pursuing the art and science of botany and botanical design, marrying her love of beauty and nature.
She also continues to enjoy creating portraits and abstract nature and fantasy art. She continues to create websites, too, through Yikes.
She continues to spend as much time in nature as possible as being in nature and with people is where she is happiest! And she continues to try to live an ever more eco-friendly lifestyle to safeguard the natural world and humanity that she loves. Her theory is to inspire others by her example, rarely pushing her ideas on others.
